DIAGNOSTIC TEST

SIR-IN Education Area has created online workshops on core research topics. This dose of knowledge has the objective that the clinician can properly interpret new diagnostic tests and the understanding of the assessment of new diagnostic tests. In simulation scenarios, the student will be able to approach common clinical practice contexts, focusing on the significance of the analysis of the diagnostic tests estimators. At the same time, the student will be able to do some practical exercises that can be self-corrected.

The content of the Diagnostic Tests Course includes the following concepts: Introduction to the concept of diagnostic tests and the differences with the measurement for tests validation and scales; tests with continuous values, understanding the sensitivity and the specificity of a test, the interpretation of ROC curves and the Youden Index, the Fagan nomogram in practice; predictive values and pre-test probability; the likelihood ratio and the diagnostic odds ratio and also how to interpret an imbalance between sensitivity-specificity and predictive values.
